Popular Indian patties made with cottage cheese and potatoes.
200 gms paneer / cottage cheese
1 cup cabbage, finely chopped
2 onions, finely chopped
4 boiled, peeled and grated potatoes
2 tbsp Lemon juice
½ cup all-purpose flour
5-6 green chillies, crushed
¼ tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
1 cup bread crumbs (for frying and some for mixture)
oil to shallow fry
Crush green chillies in a mortar and pestle to create a coarse paste.
In a large bowl, mix paneer, mashed potatoes, onions, turmeric, cabbage, crushed green chillies, lemon juice, salt and ½ cup breadcrumbs along with some coriander leaves. Mix it well.
Divide the mixture into equal sized portions. Wet hands with water to make sure it’s not sticky. Make patties / flat tikki shape of the above mixture.
In a flat bowl take all purpose flour and add some water to form thin paste. Dip all patties one by one in flour paste and coat each with bread crumbs before frying.
Shallow fry the patties on a tawa or griddle pan until crisp and golden brown on both the sides.
Serve hot with chutney or ketchup.
I just love paneer…I can’t wait to try this very soon! Thanks !!
